What to do during your stay!
Puy du Fou - located 45 mins from La Chapelle Themer is the medieval theme park of Puy du Fou. Le Puy du Fou is a historical theme park in Les Epesses in the heart of the Vendée region of Western France. The park brings in some 1.5 million visitors every year, making it the fourth most popular attraction in France after Disneyland Paris
Coastal beaches - The Vendée is justifiably proud of its beaches. Most have achieved the blue flag for cleanliness and are typically gently sloping with fine golden sand. They attract visitors to holiday on their shores from all around the world and have done so for more than a century. There is nothing like blue sea, golden sand and glorious sunshine to conjure up a picture of the ideal holiday and the Vendée has an abundance of all of them. The closest beach at La Tranche sur Mer is 45 mins drive away.
La Rochelle/Ile de Ré - La Rochelle is a city in western France and a seaport on the Bay of Biscay, a part of the Atlantic Ocean. It is the capital of the Charente-Maritime department and is 45 mins drive away. Across the bridge from La Rochelle is the beautiful island of Île de Ré on the northern side of the Pertuis d'Antioche strait.
William Christie - William Lincoln Christie is an American-born French conductor and harpsichordist. He is a specialist in baroque repertoire and is the founder of the ensemble Les Arts Florissants. His beautiful gardens are open at certain times of the year and are only 5 mins drive away in the village of Thire.
There are three great golf courses all within one hours drive of the bed and breakfast. We are happy to assist in organising a golf package for you on request.
Our location is perfect for walkers with miles and miles of paths straight from our front door.

We stayed at Maison des Amis for a week in August while we were attending a nearby music festival.
Everything about the stay at Maison des Amis was superlative: the cleanliness, the garden, the delightful food and wine, the unflagging courtesy and attentiveness of our hosts Phil and Emma. We had such a wonderful time, and it was because of them.
A small example: When we were leaving, Emma drove her car ahead of us, guiding us though a maze flawlessly onto to the highway to Paris. This is typical of dozens of small details. Other examples: she and Phil gave us detailed, accurate instructions for ways to get to the closest stores, gas, and other necessities. Another example: Emma realized that Anne had dietary restrictions, although we had not told her, and adjusted the food she served Anne. This was so much trouble! While she served these delicious desserts to others, she somehow made time and adjusted her grocery order so that she could serve fruit salad one night, a cheese plate the other night, to Anne. She did this again and again, courteously and gently. This is a tiny, tiny town—not big enough for a bakery—so Emma bakes, beautifully, and also is on the route of itinerant fish vendors, vegetable people, and bread people. (The bread man blows his automobile horn to alert the village that he has come. The vegetable people knock on the door.) The result is that the spread of food is amazing—how does she get, much less cook, such abundance? But, she does.
Phil and Emma were utterly professional about running the bed and breakfast. It was their business, and this business-like concern showed in so many ways: everything in the home was spic and span; we were encouraged to use the living room; we were welcome in the garden; they have a great dog!! who was NOT let in when we ate because food was too much for him! His name is Bertie. He’s adorable. They were utterly courteous and responsive, yet not intrusive. Each day there was something wonderful to eat (and drink). In short, it was heaven.
We are going back next year, to hear Mr. Christie’s music, and to stay at Emma and Phil’s fabulous bed and breakfast. We, and anyone else who stays there, are blessedly lucky to have a stay at such a place.

Really really impressed with this Bed and Breakfast. My mother and I were in Vendée for the William Christie early music festival, and despite the weather..Emma and Phil gave us a wonderful welcome. Rooms spacious, comfortable and well decorated, and breakfast and dinner superb. Excellent value. We would recommend La Maison des Amis very highly.....Top class stay.

This was our second visit to La Maison des Amis, and as we had adored it last time and could not wait to come back, expectations were high. We were not disappointed. As soon as you step over the threshold, you feel yourself relax and as last time, I wish, I could have stayed for at least a week, to curl up on one of the cosy sofas or sit in the beautiful courtyard to browse through all the magazines and books that are put out for the enjoyment of the guests.
The room is as I remembered, very cosy and comfortable, very clean, airy and as in all of the house, it carries all the loving touches that Emma does so well. There is a tea and coffee making set, plenty of nice toiletry articles and soaps, fluffy towels and real flowers. The bed is very comfortable too and we slept very well.
Emma does not only have a real knack for decorating, she is also a fab cook. Breakfast is generous, lovingly presented and contains homemade jams and compotes, alongside croissants, fresh fruit, juice, rolls or toast, ham, cheese, fromage blanc, yogourt and cereal.
The table d'hôtes is even better, three tasty home cooked courses, generous portions, beautifully presented, accompagnied by a very good wine. You do need to get activ during the day, with all those temptations around! Luckily, this is a great area for walking, cycling and exploring, we stayed for three nights and did not manage to see half of what we had planned to.
Both Emma and Phil (and not to forget Bertie, the labrador) are lovely, generous and warm hosts and will do everything to make ones stay enjoyable. I am already plotting to visit a third time!

Appena prenotato via Booking mi arriva un'email dalla struttura, gentilissima.
All'arrivo l'accoglienza è calorosa e personalizzata

We had a fab break thanks at your studio Maison des Amies! It was just to spot for us for a Tour de France break
The studio is terrifically-appointed, and really gives a feeling of rural France - and from the welcoming meal on arrival right through to the relaxing 'soleil-trap’ for a vin rouge in the enclosed garden - we enjoyed every minute
When we return - can we assume that Labrador puppy Dylan might have grown a bit???? See you again - hopefully soon!
